Whether it’s summer or not, I love wearing black. But, as the sun is shining, I’m willing to brighten up my style with a softer more summery colour – Lilac. Recently, I created a night sky notebook set exploring this black and lilac colour combination. Initially I was inspired by the contrast between the dark and the light, and the moon in the night sky encompassed that. If you watch the moon change each night you notice the subtle changes, including the slight lilac or sometimes bright pink tinge on significant dates in the year.

The combination of light and dark is a distinct contrast, but in this instance the hard black is softened by the calming lilac. There are so many gorgeous lilac accessories at the moment too, including this to-die-for Grafea mini backpack from ASOS. This lilac longline top with side splits – ASOS is also perfect for summer layering, whether on a morning stroll along the beach, or a summer evening adventure. Try layering with a sheer long sleeved top or style by layering a few simple necklaces and boho waves.

If you’re planning a summer adventure, I think you’ll love our Night Sky Notebooks. They’re A5 so they fit perfectly in any handbag, and they come with blank pages so you can doodle, scribble and plan to your heart’s content! We also have lots more goodies to come in our Etsy shop so take a look around and keep an eye out for new ranges!
