Some of you may already know the ins and outs of my life over the past year, but for many that follow this blog that don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, here’s a little run down.
In 2012 I moved to Bradford to start my career in the creative world as a Creative Editor. In short, this was a creative copywriting job for Tigerprint, a supplier of greetings cards and gifting for M&S. I worked at Tigerprint for almost 2 years, and around this time last year, I decided to take the leap and go forward in my career to take on a full time social media role.
I won’t name the company I went on to work at, but let’s just say my experience here ruined my perception of the real working world. I felt extremely negative throughout my time there and I felt like everyone who worked there believed that that’s what a real work place is like. It’s really not. I left in August and felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. For a while I beat myself up about it, like I’d completely failed, but I also had this feeling that I was made for something different.
I then went on to work as a Social Media Consultant for Blockworks. I was determined to make the freelance life work for me. I have friends that already work freelance, and they inspired me to really go for it.
The Present – Project Black Ltd
Right now, in this moment, I can officially call myself a Company Director for Project Black Ltd.
Project Black was, and is, mine and Andy’s little baby. We thought of the name and the concept long before I thought it was possible to make freelancing a successful path for me. Andy is an incredibly ambitious and focused person, with mad skills! I couldn’t have asked for a better business partner, he’s been by my side at every step and has played a huge part in taking my vision to the next stage.
I specialise in Social Media Marketing and Copywriting, Andy is a Graphic and Web Designer with the skills to turn ideas into a reality! Take a look at what he did for our Project Black website.
The Future – Project Black Ltd, Gypsy Dreams & MODU
The future is next month, next year and years to come. As much as running one business is difficult enough, I like a challenge, and that’s why you’ll be seeing a lot more going on with Gypsy Dreams. I’ve just listed 9 notebooks on the Gypsy Dreams shop that you can buy right now! But that’s not all, I already have other products in the pipeline and I can’t wait to share them with you in the very near future!
I’m not the only one turning dreams into a reality, as Andy has decided to start his own side project – MODU. MODU celebrates the creativity and ingenuity of science and technology through artistic endeavours.
So, if you’re curious, or even better want to support us, have a look at Project Black and share what we do with anyone you know that may need our expertise. If you’re personally in the mood for some retail therapy have a look at the Gypsy Dreams shop and keep your eyes on the MODU Facebook page for updates on Andy’s own shop!
